Phase II Brief history of Kajola

  BRIEF HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF KAJOLA
A Yoruba proverb goes thus "bi omodo ko ba gbo itan a gbo aroba, aroba si ni baba itan". This can be translated as "if a child does not meet a circumstance, a tale should enlighten him".
According to the tradition we heard orally, it was revealed to us that several centuries ago, Kajola migrated from Ile-Ife and settled on their present virgin lands unoccupied by anyone and free of any rival. The first monarch of the community was Oba Edemarun Te-bi-osule accompanied by marvellous royal properties with crown which had no equal in our local environment. These are still readily available at Oba Edemarun's Palace till the present time.
Kajola is an autonomous community in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State. It is bounded in the East by Isare-Opin, Ikerin-Opin and Igbede. In the west by Iloffa and Omu-Aran. In the south by Erinmope while in the North by Oko-Irese, Inishan and Idofin-Igbana. The incumbent Paramount ruler of the noble community is Oba Joseph Adeleke Oyewole (JP), the 19th Edemarun of Kajola.
The community is the largest in the whole of Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State in terms of population and enrolment in both Primary and Secondary Schools. It is interesting to note that Kajola people are peace-loving, hardworking and  accommodating.
According to authentic historical background of Kajola, when the seventh (7th) Oba edemarun Adegbodo was on throne, Baba Aofin of ilowe Compound in Kajola brought some STRANGERS (Odo-Owa) whom he entertained with a tuber of yam called "ARA" then. They were well fed together with their dog and even left remnants. That was the reason why Ilowe people are called "Omo A babude Ara bolojo (i.e Alejo) yo taja taja". The strangers were ten in number with a dog.
They were brought before the king (Edemarun Adegbodo) and upon interrogation, they confessed that they were not spies but refugees looking for a settlement. They said they were from Osun in Ilesha and fled as a result of succession dispute. They went further to say that it was Oba Osolo of Igbede who directed them to Oba Edemarun for "protection". Oba Adegbodo sent emissaries to Oba of Ilofa where they met at their usual Traditional meeting point called "AJAGBORU" where Owa's case (Odo-Owa) was presented. Alofa maintained that you do not put any STRANGERS behind your walls or else he wakes up to capture and seize your territory.
Therefore he appealed to Oba Edemarun to let them donate parts of their lands for them to settle at the centre for protection against their home enemies from Osu. The history was turned upside down to suit their selfish desires where Tenants now want to become landlords because they have no more land for expansion.
Furthermore, we wish to state here that Kajola comprises of eight big wards namely Igbinlo, Itoto, Ipekun, Oke-Esi, Igemo, Ilowe, Ipara and Oke Oyo respectively with the extension of Orisumibare, Agbo-Oba, Temidire, Aduragba, Igbo-Eku, Idiroko and Aduralere wards.
