Facts about Kajola community, VOLUME II

                      IRETA SPRINGS
God himself is marvelous, he created many things in his capacities, amongst are rock, trees, waters, animals, and even human being of a very specialized features, here is one of the mighty work of Almighty God, the spring of healing water which he created and give special features amidst others.
Ireta spring is located in Igbo-Ireta area behind Fola-Ajike motel Kajola Oke-Ero L.G.A Kwara State. Ireta belong to Ipekun compound of Kajola under the leadership of high chief Inarin of Ipekun that is why it is included in there homage as "Omo eleni-ireta omo eleni ateika omo eleni ewele omo-olojo totobiro".
Ireta is said to be a source of healing water in the olden days, which heals a lot of diseases, even which doctors can not treat. Some of the diseases that Ireta has heals are 'Blindness, sleepiness night, supernatural problems, constipation, fever, stomach upset, Bareness, stroke, epilepsy and lots more. 
The shrine of ireta is located very close to the river with a plant demarcation " PEREGUN" in Yoruba land, where sacrifice were made to pleased the Eleni-Ireta, a piece of white cloth, remnants of sugar cane and other sacrificed things are found in the shrine.
Ireta is a super natural water which comes out from the ground under some big trees root. 
Ireta us said to have a sibling in the community which is known as TOTOBIRO which is located at ODO EJIGBE/ODODO ipekun compound Kajola. The chief priest of ireta is called ELEJIGBE, she shall be the one to consult Ireta and Totobiro on any issue and make the necessary sacrifice during there celebration.
Ireta and Totobiro are celebrated 2 days ahead of Egungun festival in Kajola, Oke-Ero local govt. Area, in which after the celebration at the river side [ireta], the ELEJIGBE  accompany with her people will dance from Ireta down to Totobiro and make necessary prayer at the river side also before going to there various destination.

Eleni-Ireta is the gods that reside in the spring, in which whenever he is going out he does not step on ground stone, he walks on ENI-ORE {Local mat} that is why it is called Eleni-Ireta.
During the celebration many  people, even from the neibouring community will come and pray and ask for whatever they want and make promise, many people will also come to redeem there pledge, and thank the gods for what he as done for them.
The Eleni-Ireta and Totobiro is said to be friendly to everyone including visitors to the extend that if there is a strange spirit that can harm environment the colour will change and no one will be able to fetch the water just to protect his people.
